Series Overview
This month, we’re going to explore how Jesus teaches us to live in and help grow God’s kingdom. We start off with The Story of the Farmer, and how God’s kingdom grows when we listen to God and do what He says. In Week 2, we explore The Parable of the Bags of Gold, discovering how God wants us to use the gifts He has given us to grow the kingdom. We follow up with The Servant Who Had No Mercy, where kids will learn that because God has forgiven us, we can help bring His kingdom to others when we forgive them. And we wrap up the summer series with The Story of the Persistent Widow, where kids will see how important it is to keep talking with God and never give up, even when you don’t get the answer you want right away

The Story of the Farmer

This week follows The Story of the Farmer in Matthew 13:1-23. Kids will discover that they can be “good soil” for God’s Word when they stay connected to God instead of becoming distracted or giving up when life gets hards.

Through this story, Jesus challenges His followers to be good stewards of the gifts that God has given us. Kids will discover that they can use everything, from their stuff to their time to their talents, to help grow God’s kingdom.

Week Three (July 18/19)
The Servant Who Had No Mercy

Insight: Compassion that reflects God’s character – My faith in Christ is revealed by my compassion and care for others
Like the king in this parable, God has forgiven each one of us of a huge debt— one created by our sins. And because we’ve been forgiven, we are called to pass that forgiveness to the people who have wronged us.

Week Four (July 25/26)
The Story of the Persistent Widow

Insight: Compassion that reflects God’s character – My faith in Christ is revealed by my compassion and care for others
Like the persistent woman in this story, kids are called to keep asking God for what they need and to stay connected to Him—even when they don’t get the answer they want right away. God wants to hear our hearts and invites us to share them with Him.
